When Life Isn't Complicated Enough

53 Days till Christmas….

on 01/11/2012

Since September we have all seen the shops beginning to stock Christmas items much to some peoples dread, well I have to say I am not one of them. I am one of those annoyingly organised people that have completed the buying, wrapping and tagging with weeks if not months to spare.

My Christmas shopping starts on Christmas Day Eve, come 8 pm I am attached to my laptop with my flexible friend close at hand! I then proceed over the following 3 days to intermittently trawl through my list of online stores that I favor and hey presto 60% of my Christmas shopping is completed for the next year with gigantic savings!

Obviously this has been easy for Joshua for the last 2 Christmases as he doesn’t have a massive preference as he is still so little and this worked for Beth until she was about 8. Once she got older I was able to get the basics for her then I squirrel away throughout the year to get a couple of the Christmas ‘must haves’ from the TV adverts and get them as soon as I have saved enough. I also listen throughout the year to our relatives and pick up gifts along the way.

Don’t get me wrong I didn’t always do this, I have spent many many years running around frantically panic buying with only hours to spare. For me all this led to was tears and tantrums (from me) along with that feeling of dread when someone opened my last minute panic bought present just in case I had completely fluffed it! I have to say I don’t think I ever made any massive errors when I panic bought but I felt I was living on my nerves for the entire Christmas build up and just wanted to get the whole blumming thing out the way.

Since I have given into my anally retentive organised ways I now find Christmas a joy and I love the whole Christmas period from start to finish as I have more time to spend with the kids.

Here’s to the next 53 days

I am like you, I dont dread the christmas isles being stacked.. I love it! Im not a last minute panic buyer, I do start with bits and bobs throughout the year and if something is on offer then I will get it and just hide it away. Finding it so hard now my daughter is 9! Her taste is getting more and more expensive lol xx

Hi Emma, yay another organised Christmas shopper, i will have to tell my hubby know that, as he thinks i a mad and know one else does it!

I know how you feel when Beth got to that age it does get more difficult however i made her do her list in August then i keep a little bit to one side so when she comes in December and says i ‘NEED’ that i could pop and get just the one or two things 🙂

  7. Wow you are super organised, but I can imagine you pick up some brilliant bargains, I have only just started lol, have a great weekend xx
